Words

Can be fun.  I like “playing” with words.  Things like Malaprops,

mal·a·prop
/ˈmaləˌpräp/
noun
  1. the mistaken use of a word in place of a similar-sounding one, often with unintentionally amusing effect, as in, for example, “dance a flamingo ” (instead of flamenco ).

There’s the classic 3-Stuges “I resemble that remark.”

Or “I can’t dismember what he said,”

Or, sometimes just transposing words can be a little interesting, like “I don’t stand under that” instead of “I don’t understand that.”

spoon·er·ism
/ˈspo͞onəˌrizəm/

noun
  1. a verbal error in which a speaker accidentally transposes the initial sounds or letters of two or more words, often to humorous effect, as in the sentence you have hissed the mystery lectures, accidentally spoken instead of the intended sentence you have missed the history lectures.

I especially like the ones that form real words, but sometimes ones that make nonsense words are funny too.

 Some of my favorite Spoonerisms.
